Overview

What kind of care does LAOSS offer?

LAOSS is a full-service orthopedic group. That means whatever piece of your care you need — a same-day X-ray, a second opinion on a herniated disc, a knee replacement, an image-guided injection, or just a clear answer about what's going on — you can get it from the same team, in the same chart, at one of our eight offices.

Most of what we do falls into four buckets:

  • Surgical specialties — board-certified surgeons across every body area, from joint replacement to spine to hand and wrist
  • Non-surgical care — physical therapy coordination, regenerative medicine, chiropractic, acupuncture, and pain management
  • Diagnostic imaging & testing — MRI, X-ray, ultrasound, EMG/NCV, DEXA bone density
  • Image-guided pain procedures — epidural and joint injections, nerve blocks, radiofrequency ablation, viscosupplementation

The goal is to keep your care under one roof — so your surgeon, your imaging, your therapy plan, and your pain procedures all talk to each other instead of you having to coordinate between five different practices.

FAQ

Common questions about LAOSS services

  • Services are ongoing specialty care areas (sports medicine, pain management, podiatry, etc.) and standalone offerings like physical therapy or diagnostic imaging. Procedures are specific interventions (injections, surgeries). The two often work together — a service like pain management may use procedures like epidural injections or nerve blocks.
  • If you have a PPO plan, no referral is needed — you can book directly with any of our specialists. HMO plans require a referral from your primary care physician (PCP) before being seen. If you're not sure, call us at (323) 264-7600 and our team will walk you through it.
  • LAOSS doesn't run our own PT clinics. We coordinate physical therapy with providers in your insurance network — your LAOSS specialist writes the plan and stays in direct contact with your PT clinic throughout recovery. This keeps care in-network for most patients and removes the back-and-forth of finding a PT yourself.
  • General orthopedics, on-site X-ray, and most non-surgical care are available at every LAOSS office. MRI is coordinated through partner imaging centers. Surgical procedures are scheduled based on the surgeon and surgical facility — your specialist will guide you on where each procedure takes place.
  • Same-day appointments are available for acute injuries; routine evaluations are typically within the week. Most non-surgical services and diagnostic tests have same-week availability.
  • LAOSS is in-network with most major commercial PPO and HMO plans, Medicare, and Medi-Cal. See the full carrier list on our insurance page. Self-pay pricing is available for cash patients — transparent up-front pricing for the most common services.
