Overview

What is Bunionplasty® 360?

Bunionplasty® 360 Bunion Repair is a modern, minimally invasive approach to bunion correction that addresses the root cause of the deformity (the rotation and misalignment of the metatarsal bone), not just the bump on the outside of the foot.

Unlike older bunion procedures that simply shave the bony bump, Bunionplasty® 360 realigns the bone in three dimensions and stabilizes it with small titanium implants. Most patients walk in a surgical shoe the same day and return to regular shoes in weeks, not months.

Watch: Lapiplasty® 3D Bunion Correction

This surgery gets rid of a bunion by correcting the position of the bone that has shifted to cause the bump. Lapiplasty realigns the bone and stabilizes the joint so the bunion won't return.

Anatomy

Inside the bunion.

A bunion is a bony bump at the base of the big toe caused by deformity of the first metatarsal. Modern minimally invasive bunion correction realigns the bone with small incisions, faster recovery, and better cosmetic outcomes than traditional open surgery.

Dr. Longacre is fantastic. Did my knee scope, recovery was way smoother than I expected. Even his follow-up visits are thorough.

Common questions

FAQ.

  • Traditional bunion surgery uses larger incisions and hardware; bunionplasty uses small incisions and percutaneous (through-the-skin) techniques. Result: less soft-tissue trauma, less scarring, and faster recovery.
  • Yes — most patients walk on the operated foot the same day in a special post-op shoe. Full weight-bearing in regular shoes typically returns over 4–8 weeks.
  • Recurrence is uncommon when the underlying biomechanics are addressed. Your surgeon will discuss long-term outlook based on your specific anatomy.
  • Yes — bunion correction is medically necessary surgery and covered by most insurance plans.
